A strange circle of light appears on the sea before them, and Rafe steers right toward it, regardless of the jagged rocks just beyond. This leap of faith transports them safely into another world. In crossing The Rift, privateer Rafe Rafton has earned himself a captaincy, as well as opened a window of opportunity. In the name of good King Henry the Eighth, Rafton will plunder the riches found in this world, earning himself the name The Sea Wolf, as well as a hefty price on his head.
Askana Modarin, First Queen of Morevi, fought a war to attain her throne and wasn't about to lose it through the plotting and machinations of her own people. This pirate, whom she herself had placed a death sentence upon his head, just may be the one to help her root out the traitors in her midst and stamp out the beginnings of a civil warthat is, if she doesn't kill the cocky bastard first. He has no respect for her gender or her office. If nothing else during this 'grand adventure' he will learn to treat a queen with respect and reverence. She never expected she would be the one who would grow and change.
MOREVI is a story of epic proportionsa story that would be perfect for the big screen. Though there were a couple of mistakes and inconsistencies in the story, the complex characters, vivid descriptions and action kept me reading long after I should have gone to bed. Though the ending was just a little too easy for my tastes, overall, the story was a satisfying read and well worth all the time spent staring at it's itty bitty print.
If you like a story rich in history and culturea story full of action and intriguea story steeped with magic, give MOREVI, by authors Lee and Morris a look. Reviewed by Lisa Ramaglia
